NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's fencing team hosted a match on Sunday afternoon and earned one win in the process as the Maccabees beat LIU-Post 17-10 and lost to Hunter College 21-6, CCNY 14-13 and Queens College 20-7 at the Norman Thomas High School athletic facility.
Yeshiva earned some impressive individual wins on the day. In epee, Zelda Saifatiearned five wins to lead the way. She earned two wins over CCNY's opponents and one each against the opposition from Queens, LIU Post and Hunter College.
Sarah King earned two wins against them and
Devora Scott-Thoennes had one.
In foil,
Deborah Laban had four total wins, while
Rebecca Kerzner and
Tamar Shiller had two victories each.
In saber, Yeshiva earned several forfeit wins and fenced well in competition for a successful day.
Michelle Neiman battled to five wins, while
Michelle Sabbagh had two
Rani Silvert had one win as well.
