HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational on Sunday afternoon, out in New Jersey. The Maccabees dropped matches to Stevens 25-2, host Fairleigh Dickinson University 25-2, Queens College 22-4, Hunter 16-10, New Jersey Institute of Technology 22-5, LIU Post 21-6, and Drew University by a score of 24-3.
Against Stevens, junior
Ariella Kerendian earned a victory at foil, while freshman
Sima Fried was victorious at epee. Junior
Jamie Baum and sophomore
Rebecca Kerzner each won a bout in epee against FDU.
In the duel with Hunter, sophomore
Hannah Bickford won her first collegiate bout in foil, while classmate
Shana Horn picked up a pair of sabre victories against NJIT. In that same match, Fried and Baum were victorious in epee. Baum picked up two more wins against LIU Post, while Kerendian, Kerzner, and Fried each won a bout against Drew University.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Sunday, for the EWFC Championships at Hunter College. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
