POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, hosted by Vassar College, at the Walker Field House on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees fell to West Point (20-7), Rochester Institute of Technology (19-8), Long Island University Post (18-9), Drew University (26-1), Queens College (17-10), and host Vassar College (23-4).
In the duel against West Point, sophomore
Rocky Pincus won two out of three sabre battles, while junior
Sarah Graff earned a sabre victory of her own. Sophomore
Dahlia Laury went 2-1 in foil, while sophomore
Batsheva Lasky and junior
Sara Dobkin each earned a win in epee.
Against RIT, Pincus once again went 2-1 in sabre bouts. Graff and junior
Brielle Broder each picked up a sabre victory of their own. Laury and Lasky each went 2-1 in foil and epee bouts, respectively.
Dobkin picked up an epee win over Drew University.
The Maccabees won the epee flight over Queen College, 5-4. Lasky and Dobkin each went 2-1, while sophomore
Kayla Kamornick won a bout of her own. Laury won a foil duel, while Broder picked up a win in sabre.
Against Vassar, Lasky went 2-1 in epee, while Kamornick and Dobkin each won one epee duel.
The Maccabees will be back in action on Sunday, December 3, for the NIWFA Invitational, in Madison, N.J. beginning at 8:00 a.m.
