FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the Metro Tournament, on the campus of Queens College, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees fell to host Queens College, 18-9, and Hunter College, 16-11.
In the match against Queens, YU's epee team bested the opposition, 5-4. Senior
Jamie Baum and junior
Rebecca Kerzner each picked up two wins, while freshman
Meira Weisblatt was victorious in the deciding bout.
In foil, freshman
Shoshana Ciment earned a win in the opening bout, 5-1. Junior
Gal Gir, sophomore
Sarah Graff, and classmate
Talia Korn each earned one win.
Against Hunter, Baum earned a win in epee. The sabre team just fell short, 5-4, highlighted by a victory for Korn.
Yeshiva will now prepare for the NCAA Northeast Regional, on Sunday March 12. Details on who has qualified will be announced soon.
