POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team opened its 2019-20 season at the Vassar College Invitational, at the Walker Field House, on Sunday afternoon. The highlight for Maccabees was a 13-12 victory over the Hawks of Hunter College.
In the win against Hunter, junior
Batsheva Lasky earned a pair of victories in epee competition, while sophomore
Ilana Aidman and first-year fencer
Alice Aronov each won a sabre battle.
In YU's 18-9 loss to Drew, Lasky added two more epee wins, while Aidman and junior foil fencer
Talya Stehley each earned a victory.
Aronov and Lasky each contributed with a win during the Maccabees' 17-7 loss to the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In the Macs' 22-5 defeat by Sacred Heart, Lasky, Aronov, and Aidman each added another victory.
Lasky won all three bouts against Denison University, while Stehley won a foil battle. Denison earned the team win, 16-4.
In Yeshiva's 23-4 loss to Army, Lasky went 2-1 in epee. Stehley picked up yet another victory in foil.
Aidman and Lasky each won their respective duels against Wellesley, though it would not be enough as the Macs fell by a score of 25-2.
Lasky went 2-1 against Haverford, while Aidman and Stehley each had a victory in Yeshiva's 23-4 loss.
Yeshiva will return to the Walker Field House on Sunday, for the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
