NEW YORK – For the second year in a row, members of the Yeshiva University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered at the New York Common Pantry, a soup kitchen in Morningside Heights, N.Y., on Friday morning. Eleven volunteers from SAAC participated in the Hot Meals Program, by working in the kitchen and serving food.
"We really appreciated the opportunity to volunteer at the New York Common Pantry this past week," SAAC Co-President
David Hanelin said. "It was a very meaningful way to spend our Friday morning."
Some members helped set up the dining hall, others helped prepare the kitchen, as well as the food that would be served for people who came, while other SAAC representatives signed people in. There were plenty of volunteers from both the men's and women's athletic programs.
"I had the privilege of volunteering last year at the New York Common Pantry," SAAC Co-President
Malky Perlberger said. "It was a real eye-opener and an incredible experience. This year, SAAC was able to bring many more student-athletes and it was amazing to see how everyone managed their appointed tasks and how when we all worked together, we were able to perform such a kind act of giving back. We were able to make our community members' days a little brighter. We hope to continue volunteering at the New York Common Pantry throughout this year, and hopefully in future years."

"We are always looking for different ways to impact our community and greatly appreciate the opportunity to represent the greater YU student-athletic body," Hanelin said.
