MADISON, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team continued its 2021-22 campaign by participating in the Rangers Fall Invitational, on the campus of Drew University, on Sunday afternoon. YU dropped its matches to Fairleigh Dickinson University (15-7), the United States Naval Academy (25-2), Stevens Institute of Technology (27-0), Long Island University (22-5), Drew University (24-3), and Army (23-4).
The Maccabees' sabre team earned a victory over FDU, 6-3.
Leorah Lalezari won a pair of sabre bouts, while
Chaya Ehrenburg won a sabre battle of her own.
Julia Polster won a bout using the epee weapon.
Polster and
Rebecca Quintas each picked up a victory over Navy in epee and foil respectively.
Sheina Sara Huisman went 2-1 in foil combat over LIU with
Ruth Lando adding a foil victory of her own.
Shaina Matveev and Polster each picked up an epee win.
Lalezari took two out of three sabre bouts over Drew University, while Quintas picked up a foil win over the host-Rangers.
Polster went 2-1 in epee duels against Army. Lando and Ehrenburg each earned wins in foil and sabre respectively.
Yeshiva will return to Drew University next Sunday, for the second Rangers Fall Invitational, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
