MADISON, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the second session of the Rangers Fall Invitational, at the Simon Forum, on Sunday afternoon. Yeshiva dropped its bouts to Stevens Institute of Technology (24-3), Drew University (22-5), Princeton University (27-0), Denison University (25-2), Clemson University (24-3), University of Florida (18-9), and Wellesley College (26-1).
In Yeshiva's competitive battle against Florida,
Julia Polster went 2-1 in epee duels, while
Shaina Matveev won a duel. In foil,
Rebecca Quintas went 2-1 over the Gators. The sabre team was edged by the opposition, 5-4.
Leorah Lalezari won two out of three battles, while
Rachel Jian and
Chaya Ehrenburg each notched a victory.
Lalezari also went 2-1 against Drew, while Ehrenburg won a sabre bout of her own. Polster and Quintas each won a duel using the epee and foil weapon, respectively.
Polster, Lalezari, and Ehrenburg were each victorious over both Clemson and Stevens.
Matveev won an epee bout against Denison and Wellesley, while Quintas earned a foil win over Denison.
Yeshiva will compete in the Vassar Invitational, at the Walker Field house, on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
