MADISON, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team opened the 2020-21 season with a pair of losses to Drew University, at the Simon Forum, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees dropped the first match by a score of 24-3 and then fell in the next one, 20-7.
In the opening bout, junior
Ilana Aidman and classmate
Ruth Lando each picked up a victory in epee. Aidman returned to earn a win during the sabre competition.
In the second team battle between Yeshiva and Drew, Yeshiva's epee team improved but fell by a score of 5-4. Lando and senior
Talya Stehley each won two out of three epee bouts. Aidman claimed victory in her second sabre bout, 5-3. Lando and Stahley came back to win a foil bout each.
For the afternoon, Lando won four battles, while Aidman and Stehlely each won three bouts.
