Mahran Promoted to Head Coach of Men's Cross Country Team

NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University Athletics Department has announced the promotion of Miy Mahran to head coach of the Yeshiva University men's cross country team. Mahran spent the previous two seasons as the assistant coach for the program.

"I am so excited to be the head coach of the YU men's cross country team," Mahran said. "I have worked with the team since 2019 and have seen the program grow to a tight-knit group of athletes. The year 2020 had its challenges but we are ready to finally have some meets again and I know the team will be stronger and better for getting through all the challenges we faced last year. My goals are to have a strong group of guys that are ready to succeed both on the back hills of Van Cortland Park and in the classroom. I am hoping to get every guy to get a personal best this season."

Mahran was a student-athlete on the Division I Marist College's women's cross country team for four years (2010-2013). She also earned her bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from Marist, and graduated with cum laude honors, in May of 2014.

In September of 2018, Mahran participated in the Westchester Olympic Triathlon and was able to finish it. She has also completed several half-marathons.

"We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Miy's caliber lead our men's cross country program," said Director of Athletics Greg Fox. "She was a high level Division I runner and I am looking forward to this program thriving under her leadership."

A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Mahran received her Master of Laws in human rights from the University of Strathclyde in June of 2016. She earned her Juris Doctor at Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in May of 2021.
