Poughkeepsie, NY - Competing up at the Vassar College, the Yeshiva women's fencing team took on the Vassar Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Crossing swords with a number of regional powerhouses, the Maccabees squared off against the likes of Stevens Institute of Technology, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Haverford College, Sacred Heart University, Drew University and Wagner College.
Following this most recent bout, the Macs now sport a 2-16 record on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Starting off bright and early against Stevens, the Macs fell by a score of 24-3, seeing one win in saber from Alyza Michalowsky, and two in foil via a pair of victories from Leora Schramm.
- Moving on to round two, Yeshiva lost to FDU 23-4. The Macs got one epee duel win from Sarah Tobias in the fifth bout, and then three in saber thanks to excellent sword work from Beth Glantz and Michalowsky.
- Picking things up in round five, the Macs faced off against Haverford, falling 22-5. YU picked up three wins in saber thanks to Glantz and Rachel Jian, and then one point in both foil and epee via the sword of Michalowsky and Schramm.
- The Macs took on Sacred Heart University in round six, falling to the Pioneers by a score of 23-3. Two of Yeshiva's points came in epee from Tobias and Yitta Weinheber, while the third came in foil from Mikaela Amos.
- Facing off with Drew University in round number seven, YU dropped the match 24-3, with all three wins coming in saber thanks to the swords of Glantz and Jian.
- Wrapping up the day up against Wagner, the Macs lost 24-3, seeing all three points come in foil via Amos and Schramm.

Not competing again until next year, the Macs will travel up to Brandeis University for the Eric Sollee Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27.
