HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational, at Rothman Center, on Sunday afternoon. The YU sabre team earned two victories, defeating Hunter College by a score of 6-3, and then topping The City College of New York, 7-2.
During the sabre team's victory over Hunter, senior
Leorah Lalezari, sophomore
Rachel Jian, and newcomer
Rachel Bick each earned a victory. Bick went 2-0 over CCNY, later in the day, while Lalezari and Jian each earned one win with the sabre weapon over the Beavers. Bick also added a victory over host-FDU, earning four wins total during her collegiate fencing debut.
In epee, senior
Julia Polster won two out of three bouts over Hunter, while winning a battle against both CCNY and FDU.
In foil, rookie
Mikaela Amos was victorious in one bout over Army.
As a team, the Maccabees dropped team duels to New Jersey Institute of Technology (27-0), Army (26-1), Stevens Institute (26-1), Hunter (19-8), CCNY (19-8) and FDU (18-7).
