MADISON, N.J. - The Yeshiva University women's fencing team competed in the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Championships, on the campus of Drew University, on Sunday. YU dropped team duels to Vassar College (26-1), Haverford College (19-7), Wellesley College (25-2), Johns Hopkins University (26-1), Denison University (22-4), and The City College of New York (19-7).
Senior epee fencer
Julia Polster had a strong performance for the Maccabees, as she won seven battles. The Skokie native went 3-0 against CCNY and was victorious in two out of three bouts against Wellesley. She also won a duel over both Vassar and Johns Hopkins.
Also in epee, senior
Shaina Matveev went 2-1 against Denison, while picking up a victory over CCNY.
In sabre, rookie
Rachel Bick won a pair of battles, one against Haverford and the other over CCNY. Sophomore
Rachel Jian also claimed a victory over City College.
In foil, newcomer
Mikaela Amos claimed two out of three duels against Haverford. First-year fencer
Ester Fattakhov notched a win over CCNY,
