MADISON, NJ - Traveling down to Drew for their first and final EWFC event of the season, the Yeshiva Women's Fencing Team took part in the EWFC Championships on Sunday, Feb. 16th.
The Maccabees crossed swords with: Drew University, The City College of New York, Johns Hopkins University, Wellesley College, and the Stevens Institute of Technology.
With the results, the Macs are now 3-24 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva's day started off slow, falling to Drew in round one, 25-2."
- The Maccabees' fortunes shifted in round two. Thanks to three points each from Rachel Jian and Beth Glantz in sabre, two points each from Leora Schramm and Sofia Rauh in foil, and three points each from Nikki Blitman and Sarah Tobias in epee, YU felled cross-town rival CCNY, downing the Beavers by a score of 16-11.
- However, the Macs' success did not hold in the later rounds. Yeshiva fell to Johns Hopkins, 27-0 in round three, to Wellesley 24-3 in round four, and to Stevens 25-2 in round five.
UP NEXT
Taking on their final meet this season as a full squad, the Macs will travel out to Long Island for the Long Island University Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 23rd.
