BRONX, NY - Starting their season close to home in Van Cortlandt Park, the Yeshiva Men's Cross Country Team competed at the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, hosted by Iona University on Friday, Sept. 12th.
Running in the five mile race, the Maccabees faced off against competitors from: Princeton University, Iona University, Army West Point, Yale University, PennWest California, Columbia University, Binghamton University, Lock Haven University, Bergen County Community College, and Lehman College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- As a team, the Macs finished with a score of 294, placing ninth of 11 teams.
- On an individual level, Yeshiva was led by Synatra Tarenyika, with the graduate student finishing 79th with a time of 33:27.8.
- The Maccabees saw six runners finish in the 80's, with Daniel Simon placing 81st (35:20.6), Joshua Kohn placing 82nd (38:10.6), Moshe Sitzer placing 87th (39:11.0), Shmuel Ziffer placing 88th (39:46.7) and Noah Diner placing 89th (40:26.7).
- Rounding out the field for the Macs, Daniel Lando finished 93rd, Aviel Metz finished 94th, Benjamin Coplin finished 95th and Jonathan Werta finished 96th.

Running again just two days later, the Macs will take part in the MSMC Invitational, hosted by Mount Saint Mary College on Sunday, Sept. 14th.
